As done by numerous friends...

  1. go to Google
  2. click on the "images" tab
  3. type in your answers to each question, and click search
  4. answer with the first available picture you get back

place you grew up:

This is, in fact, the main street of the town I grew up in. The brown building on the corner with the angled corner windows used to be the Eaton's. I've been in every building you see here and chances are at least one person visible in the picture is a relative. I rented my tux for grad from Charlie Onn's on the right. I've even climbed the mountain in the background. There's not much to do in Duncan.

place you live now:

That's Vancouver, alright.

fav. cartoon:

I think only [livejournal.com profile] bitogoth will know why this came up.

fav. food:

Cookie Monster is my official totem animal.

fav drink:

What else?

fav song:

[livejournal.com profile] lady_maleficent knows playing this is a sure-fire way to get me to bounce around like a tard.

fav. smell:

My cats fear the threat, "I'm going to sniff your head!" second only to, "I'm going to eat your head!"

fav. shoes:

I'd be pleased with this collection.

first car:

I'd really like to have one of these again. I loved this car. Even after that time the jack gave out and I got squished under it...
Bonus points for anyone who even knows what this is. You don't see these every day, that's for sure.

grandma's name:

Nothing came up for her full name, So I just used her first name. The biggest problem with "West Side Story" is at the end where he is running through Spanish Haarlem yelling "Maria" and only one woman looks... Bet you didn't know I'm part Spanish.

my name:

When I google my name an utter crap load of images that I made come up. This is one from my trip to Chicago for Convergence 10 last year.

It's a rear-engined, air-cooled Volkswagen Type III "Notchback". The "Fastback" and station wagon models are much more common. The sedans are hard to come by.

It used to be a lot of fun at full-service gas stations. I'd drive up an pop the hood. The attendant would come and I'd ask for an oil check and a fill. Then I'd let him walk around the car looking for the gas cap, which, being a Volkswagen, was actually under the hood. At that point they would get doubly confused because they generally assumed the reason I popped the hood was for the oil change. "Where do I check the oil?" they'd ask and I would open the driver's door. "You don't have to get out." "Yes, I do." The release for the trunk was on the pillar behind the driver just below the door latch. It was too awkward to pull sitting down.

So I'd release the trunk and watch the look on the attendant's face when he opened the trunk. Like the station wagons, the car has a pancake engine so there actually *is* a trunk and to get at the engine you have to roll back the carpet and open a trap door. "Where's the engine" would be the inevitable next question.

"You don't need to get at the engine."

"But how do I check the oil?"

To the right of the latch for the trunk lip was a cap. The dip stick was actaully attached to the cap on the inside and the tube to check the oil and the filler tube were one-and-the-same.

Typically the attendands would at that point be quite interested in the car and want to see how you actually got at the engine and have a bunch of other questions. It usually concluded with a chat about the rarity and unusual nature of the car.

I'm going to guess it's either likely a VW or maybe a Volvo. I'd need to see the front grill to know for sure.

Indeed it is! I've had a variety of Volkswakgens, but never a bug. This was by far my favourite.

If I put the first picture that comes up for where I grew up, I'd have a picture of a cat with some weird thing around it's neck.... The second picture is a map of the area and the third and fourth are text that also have nothing to do with where I grew up. This is very very confusing...

I was really expecting some kind of non sequitur like that for everything. I was quite surprised to get relevant pictures for almost everything. Almost as surprised by how many of my own images came up when I did my own name.
