Taking Advantage of the Camera

I should have thought of this earlier. The IR light coming through and the fact that my replacement for the IR-cut filter does not have the same visible tint was throwing the white balance off. I forgot the camera has a manual white balance control. Setting off a white piece paper I can wholly compensate for the magenta shift in colour in-camera:

IR+Visible, correctly white-balanced.

IR only, correctly white-balanced.

Yup! The sign is part of a painting that says "CARNAGE" and the "N" disappears and reappears so it looks like "CAR AGE" since it's got the artists two classic cars in it.

Sounds like the artist is 12 Midnight.

BTW, our apartment is the one with black curtains and a spider-web in the living room window.

Yup! Midnite did it. He might do a sign for their door that says "Pants Free".
