Having to get up at 5:00 a.m. to go to Vernon for a meeting at the head office of the lame company that wrecked a decent job with a hostile take-over sucks donkey balls.

Having to get up at 5:00 a.m. to go to Vernon for a meeting at the head office of your 2.6 billion dollar client that you are developing a corporate intranet for feels pretty good.

Yup. Being independent is better for my soul. It's all about autonomy. it may be scary facing irregular income, but that is offset by not being a wage-slave.

Yesterday I got the current accounts set up for the corporation and issued the first invoice to another client I'm doing web design and development for. I should have my first cheque Friday.

Totally off-topic: I've had a request for a custom order, so I need to head to the Michaels store today to get supplies, as well as frames. I can pick up a scrapbook (and always return it if you don't like it) while I'm there. I'm hoping you don't want a certain coloured paper or anything, just something classy and corporate looking. I'll pick the nicest thing I can find, expense not an issue. Like I said, I can always return it.

I had you in mind when I was writing this. You pointed out ages ago that I was happier when I was working independently. You were right.
