Today wasn't so bad after-all. Of course now I'm stuck in the airport for a few hours, but that's why they put bars in airports. Maybe I'll go take a nap by the terminal in a bit.

I'd forgotten what kind of crap these people are used to. *I* know that SharePoint is crap compared to what they could have, but in comparison to the circa 1998 Cold-Fusion based application running on a PII, they don't see not so much as crap but as da shit.

Because the Vancouver office is shutting down, they are going to set me up with a VOIP phone that will give me a Vernon office "local" and allow me to work from home on this with infinitely less stress. My contract says I have to be available 9-12 & 1-3, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and put in 21 hours a week on the project. Going into the (dying) Vancouver office makes the two the same, but with a local at home I can be "available" and be working on a painting and I can put my hours in when and how I see fit.

I guess I won't be firing these guys just yet.

Do you know what brand of VOIP phone you are getting? When I was in AU, the office there had Cisco VOIP phones... those things are gorgeous! The phones have a nice large (color) touch screen, which has a built-in web browser capable of supoprting Javascript, HTML, and XML. They had set up the system to control lights, video projectors, etc.

But I digress...

Anyway, let me know what kind of phone you get...

Nifty... let me know how you like it once you have had a chance to put it to use.

We've had them in the office for over a year. I'm just taking one of the "spares" (now that 75% of the office has already been canned) home. They're OK, but I don't see it as anything more than an office phone. The software that included for is very piggy. I don't even run it on the 3.6GHz 2GB machine I have in the office.
