I got the job at the City of Port Moody, they will be faxing me an offer today. I'll be CUPE (for my American friends, that would be the Canadian Union of Public Employees) whcih has it's pluses and minuses. I haven't been in a major union since I worked for the pulp mill (I'm not counting the useless union I was part of when working at the cinema). I guess once I'm in I'll have to start calling [livejournal.com profile] seymour_glass "brother" ;-)

The long and short of it is, the rent continues to get paid, [livejournal.com profile] valerian gets to keep on with her business, we don't have to move (so Gothic BC survives), and we can continue to work toward opening a store-front without incurring debt.

Thanks. I'm hoping to be much happier when the stress level goes down.

It is significantly less money than I was making at Lignum/Riverside/Tolko, but I think my sanity will be much improved.

Actually I'm hoping for much lower-stress. I'm counting on this being the kind of job I can leave at the office and not be constantly freaked-out like I have been for the past two years.

We'll get there eventually. I'm aiming for about four years - just in time to fleece all those Olympic tourists ;-)

Yup. It is going to be a step down in pay, but now that my debt load is much, much reduced thanks to my severance package, we should do alright.

As certain as it gets anyway. At least I know nobody is going to be buying the City of Port Moody in a hostile takeover (unless the Americans invade).
