try and predict, based on the shameless greed of transit workers unions, whether you will have a bus to take you to the airport for your flight tomorrow or if you should just start walking over the Triboro now :)

I heard about that on the news this morning. Been there. Our guys here in Vancouver went out for four months in 2001. I got in very good shape walking the 3 Km to work and back every day.

if they allowed pedestrians on the Triborough i probably would walk. it's sad, because it would only be about a 5 mile walk, and so far the most stable alternative i've found is to stay with friends in CT so i can take a $60 shuttle down from their place in the morning. apparently the CT-inbound traffic is virtually non-existent until you actually hit the city. everyone who can is staying away (smart).

yeh i can pretty well judge how far it is...and if it's a new or old train by the noise before it gets far enough through the tunnel to see it...

Easy.

If you hear the train before you feel the breeze, you're either already on the platform or have enough time to maintain your pace & still catch your ride.

If you feel the breeze before you hear the train, you can run but you'll only get to the platform in time to watch the train leave.
