WTF?

Someone just blew up about $100,000 worth of fireworks in Coal Harbour. For what? Weee! It's January 11th! Let's have a 30-minute fireworks show!

Does anyone have any idea what this might have been for?

it's funny when i was walking to catch the bus for hockey i could hear low rumbling through my earphones...i thought it sounded like fireworks and when i got to burrard i could see them reflecting off the buildings...don't know why though...

Heh, yeah at first I thought it was just another "sinkhole" forming. LOL!

Actually it was rather impressive. I immediately assumed someone was practicing for the Festival of Light thing they do every August...

Mystery solved - it was a launch event at the Shaw Tower for Shaw's new local telephone service.
