Is there something going on tonight that I don't know about? I can't get a damn cab. I should have been setting up my photo-booth 45 minutes ago.

that and I think there are but 10 cabs in this city. It's fucked up. I'm sorry it ruined your evening. That sucks.

I've read that vancouver has way fewer cabs than a city of this size population should have.

Even at non peak times, getting one is hit and miss.

but not with cabs, I was trying to go clubbing in Denver .... gridlocked traffic made it immpossible to leave this small town.

I've only maybe two or three time been completely stuck waiting for cabs that never arrived while champing at the bit to get somewhere, and both times were UTTERLY frustrating. I feel your pain.

Interesting, because pair that up with the parking situation which has become brutal downtown in the past two years.

I recall reading there was at one time 40,000 parking spots downtown on the street and parking lots. Since then however, three parking lots downtown have been made into condos and there also been a loss of street parking since many of the Yaletown one-way streets were made two-way (resulting in a loss of a parking lane).

So if there aren't that many cabs to begin with, they're now over-worked even more because folks simply won't bother driving downtown and skytrain doesn't work for a lot of people.
