I've been toying with a logo for my photographic endeavours. Opinions welcomed.

Just an idea or two...

Love the silhouette of the swan but I'm having serious issues with the flow. The main issue is the rectangular box, it isn't working for me, it's in major conflict. I'm seeing it in a couple of ways, either in a circular shape or in a tear drop with the wings coming into the tip.

ImageThose are good ideas, and I will try them. FYI, the sort of signature/cartouche on Chinese and Japanese paintings, like this little guy to the right, is what I was thinking about.

OK that makes more sense regarding your use of a rectangle. You could still keep with your original idea, I've seen simular concepts as of late and they all look great, most are artist logos or the use of Kanji or Hiragana and don't have personal totems incorporated.

If you were to keep with the tradition of using a rectangle or square "block print" I think the composition of the swan would need to be changed to encompass more of the space. Take your example, as an example: Think ZEN, the animals natural flow, you already have the temperament down 100%.

Best of luck and I can't wait to see what's next!

I like the black swan, but not the obliqued Murder She Wrote “Atratus” font and the optically-widened Verdana-like “Michael R. Barrick” font. The same font but not obliqued would be fine for “Atratus” and a more Helvetica-ish, less Verdana-ish font for “Michael R. Barrick.”
