Last week our usual Sanctuary Sunday goth night got bumped from it's usual venue at the Purple Onion and ended up in "Club 212" across the street. Normally the place is a crappy, rowdy frat-boy kind of club I wouldn't be caught dead in. The decor looks like it hasn't been updated in 20 years, which is in keeping with the out of date name. Sheesh. We've been metric for 25 years. I'd bet the average 20-something Canadian doesn't even know the significance of the number 212!

I actually really enjoyed the crappiness of the place. It totally reminded me of the old Twilight Zone. Plus it was small. We packed the place.

Once I'm finished playing with LJ I'll be posting the rest of the pictures from Sanctuary (http://www.gothic.bc.ca/venue/Sanctuary) and the after-hours extention at Luvafair (http://www.gothic.bc.ca/venue/Luvafair) on my Gothic BC (http://www.gothic.bc.ca) site.

kewl. I'll be checking those out today. I've been thinking of coming up there on a weekend sometime this year.

That would be totally cool. You should come on a long weekend because Sanctuary is always so much better when there is a holiday on Monday. Thanksgiving/Columbus Day is coming up.

That might be a plan. I first have to get settled here, then I can start making little trip plans.

What is the significance of the number 212 anyways? I've been stuck in metric all my life.

It is the boiling point of water in degrees Farenheit.

0°C = 32°F
37°C = 98.6°F
100°C = 212°F

But coincidentally -40°C = -40°F, but I don't give a fuck. I've got a heater in my truck. And I'm off the the ro-de-o! ;-p

Incidentally, the first time I saw the name on the awning I just assumed it was a gay steam bath because of the boiling water reference.
