View Across a Terraformed Huygens Crater (Mars)
mbarrick: (Default)

Ancient rivers flowing in to a flooded Hellas Planitia at sunset. 32mm "lens". The Niger Vallis is in the foreground. The Harmakhis Vallis is behind it.

The delta of the same rivers. Same light, 200mm "lens".

The area from above.

All three images were created with elevation data from the Mars Global Surveyor. Hellas Planitia is a very large impact crater roughly 2,100 kilometres across, located in the southern hemisphere of Mars. The area depicted is the north east quadrant of the basin in an area called the Hellas Montes.
