So here I am ranting about the evils of stocks and what happens? Because I have now been at my job for over a year I am now entitled to the company GRSP programme. Sitting beside me is an information package from Clarica detailing the mutual funds and other investments I can enroll in. Whether I like it or not I will be investing a few thousand a year. So now I have to sift though all this and decide what is the least of the evils I have to pick from.

And yes, the highest moral ground would be to decline to participate. Well, sorry, I have debts to pay. Behold how the system feeds itself.

just make sure to pick an "ethical" fund...

And while they wallow in their debt they go ahead and do things like "invest" in "ethical funds" and think they are being smart and good.

The only thing that doesn't make this completely hypocritical it that I'm not diverting funds that I would prefer to use otherwise. Rather these are funds that I will only receive if I make these "investments".

"Hey, Michael. You can have $1000 if you kick a puppy. And you even get to choose the puppy."

i don't think anyone can begrudge you for your bonus...after all you work hard, and you deserve to be rewarded...secondly you do work for one of the few good corporations out there, which stimulates our local economy, which we need...and you're right if you forego it you don't get it, and we all need it...invest well, and i hope it provides a great windfall for you in the future...kicking a puppy isn't so bad, punting it can be much worse...ha ha...
