Here comes Latvia and Moldova!
[U.S. Defense Secretary Donald] Rumsfeld seemed unimpressed with the French and German [pro-U.N., no attack without evidence] position, and said the two countries don't speak for all of Europe.

"Now you're thinking of Europe as Germany and France. I don't. I think that's old Europe," he said.

"If you look at the entire NATO Europe today, the centre of gravity is shifting to the East," said Rumsfeld.

Without naming names, he suggested other European countries stand behind the U.S. in their position against Iraq.

"Look at vast numbers of other countries in Europe. They're not with France and Germany on this. They're with the United States," he said.
Vast numbers? Last time I looked there were 47 countries in Europe (including the "biggies" like San Marino and Monaco). Does this guy have trouble counting? It's genuinely frightening that people this stupid are in command of armies. Do they have lead-lined aquaducts in Washington or something?

BTW... 1€ = $1.07 USD

well we all know that since wars in the 17th and 18th centuries that it's an anamoly to have someone intelligent actually run an army...in fact in the modern method of producing military officers the kind of attributes that would make for a good general would get you ostracized and kicked out of such places as westpoint...they want dull morons who follow orders from the pentagon no matter what the cost to their men...you will rarely see the mcarthurs and pattons any longer...and it seems to me that france and germany carry a fair bit of influence in europe...they are two of the stronger economies, and no one in europe really cares much what the united kingdom has to say...not to mention that most european countries are pretty progressive and peaceful...i'm sure switzerland, scandanavia, and the dutch aren't rattling their sabres at this point...rumsfeld is a moron, just as much as mr. bush, if not more...it's amazing how they'll try and put a positive spin on anything that is said...especially when the sky is really falling...and one fact he forgot to mention all of those nameless european supporters don't have a veto on the security council...so let luxembourg, liechtenstein, monte carlo, and the eastern bloc send their massive armies to support the u.s....ha ha...i'm impressed you know of san marino, not many people do...i only did because i used to read atlases...

San Marino has the notable distinction of being the only country to actually elect and then later vote out their communist government - both times through the confines of ballot box.

I read somewhere that San Marino has produced enough postage stamps in its history to cover the entire territory of the country.
