Like a good union man I am on a break, time for some guilt-free LiveJournaling. Not that I have much to say. The forecast this morning was predicting snow so I brought my IR camera in today in the hopes of taking some pictures in the snow to pass this pointless hour. No such luck. It is just raining unphotogenically out here.

It will be a while before I get any new word about Ontario. I expect I'll have to go out there bewteen Christmas and New Year's Eve. I hope it comes through because we'll be able to get the store together that much faster. That, and I could use the change of scene.

Frankly, I'm a little depressed. Working in I.T. ain't what it used to be. More and more technology decisions are being mandated by people who don't know their mass from a black hole on the recommendations of marketing weasels.

I'm just not excited about anything I'm doing. Nothing is happening to get excited about. I need some inspiration. I need to feel that something I'm doing is remarkable.

When I white balance my Canon Coolpix, the screen view gets really grainy. But the pictures are crystal clear. Any thoughts?

It may just be something you have to live with. I'm not sure exactly how the Canon works, but from the sound of it my guess is that the preview image is automatically using a high ISO in order to grab viewable images quickly. There's probably squat you can do about it unless you want to get into hacking the firmware.

If it is really unbearable, go old-school - use the viewfinder.
