Not quite. Robin had to pass it down from the helicopter (placed on bat-auto-pilot) while hanging from the bat-ladder by his knees, saving Batman just in the knick of time before the bomb embedded in the shark explodes.
And, yes. The icon is from the film. Totally worth getting on DVD if you ever see it - the commentary is priceless: it starts out ordinary enough, but as it goes on Adam West and Burt Ward get sillier and eventually start blatantly making things up. Personally I'm convinced they are getting drunk while doing the commentary.
right...it's been a while since i've seen it...though i still think he should have been carrying it in the utility belt...you never know when a shark with a bomb embedded in it might attack...
The all-time best utility belt device was in the series, though. In one episode the Riddler leaves a bowl of hot pea-soup as a clue... et voilà - out from behind the cape comes the 20" high, 12" diameter, yellow (of course) and appropriately labeled (of course) "BAT PEA-SOUP THERMOS."
Not to mention the insanely racy double-entendres in the narration, particularly in the later episodes after they introduced Batgirl. The whole thing was just so damn witty. I've got the movie, but I've never looked to see if you can get the TV episodes on DVD...
i was just thinking the same thing...hmv would be a good place to look, they have all kinds of wacky shows there i would never think would be on dvd...my mom used to watch this british show called "on the buses" and they had it there...i forgot it even existed, she watched it every night on pbs in the seventies/early eighties...
I used to watch that. I loved the British comedies on PBS when I was I kid - "On the Buses", "Are You Being Served?", "Yes, Minister", "The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin", etc. !!
yeh "on the buses" was a staple in our household...i'm going to buy the set for my mom for her birthday this year...she'll love that...i'm sure i watched all those other ones too...
