Elaine and I were just watching the first Sex and the City movie and Elaine made a comment about how big "Big" looked.

"He's exactly the same size as me," I said, "Remember when I bid on his suit?"

"Oh, yeah, " she replied, "then she must be tiny,"

"She's exactly the same size as you. Look at where she comes up to when she stands next to him; where do you come up to on me?"

"Oh, wow. That's what we look like?"

"Yes."

OK, time to step back from this meme lunacy, and get back to my usual photography and artwork..

I've been doing a lot of shooting the last couple weeks. This one is from a shoot last Saturday that was a catalogue shoot primarily for Sinn/Sativa, with some accessories from Art of Adornment. This one is one that, obviously, is being used by Art of Adornment.

Today I was doing a charity shoot for "Canvas for Cancer" - those ones will have to stay hidden until the big charity auction in September, but it was like a party here today with models, make-up artists, the hair stylist, and the shoot coordinator.

After the shoot was over, however, I did a few shots of Elaine's new self-designed custom clothes.

I could easily spend the rest of the day just wading through the gazillion messages in my inbox and not get a thing done, let alone blogging about the wedding. Elaine has posted some thank-you's in her journal and I have set up an FTP account for uploading photos.

If you need access to the FTP account or need our address to send in a disc, send me private message or send me an e-mail and I'll give you the details. You can also get them from the wedding site that was included on the invitations.

Elaine and I made a promise to each other today. We made a promise about where we want our relationship to go. We made a promise about what we want out of our lives and how we each see the other in that picture.

We both know that it is going to take time to gain confidence that we can both keep this promise. We both know that life isn't always easy and doesn't always go to plan, and it takes time to ensure that a promise like this can stand up to the vicissitudes of mundane fortune. We plan to put in that time and the effort it takes to build a really solid foundation. Right now we are both working to become the people we need to be both separately and together, and some of that has been very difficult to do and there is more hard work to come. We don't know how long it will take, but we both know why we want to. This a promise to stay on the same path to the same end.

There is a word for binding to this kind of solemn promise, but like so many things in these modern times it rarely gets used the way it used to be meant anymore.

We're engaged.

One of the pictures from the Columbia Gorge shoot for Art of Adornment is published in the current issue of Gothic Beauty (Issue 25, p.33). Below is a scan with the associated text from accompanying article by Acid PopTart highlighted.
