1993(?)

Behold my (rejected) suggestion for the first round of alt.gothic t-shirts. This would have been 1993 (or maybe 1992... I don't remember) and done on my 386SX with (most likely) "Deluxe Paint II". This is the best version of it I have managed to find. Prior to accidentally finding this tonight (hooray for stumbleupon!) the only other version I'd ever managed to find was the tiny one in the icon for this post. I used to have this painted on the back of my leather jacket.

This is the last of the 3D images of from the [livejournal.com profile] artofadornment shoot at [livejournal.com profile] c13_portland with [livejournal.com profile] acid_poptart, [livejournal.com profile] valerian, and [livejournal.com profile] frozen_amaranth/[livejournal.com profile] lady_amaranth.

I did another version of this centred around [livejournal.com profile] valerian in the middle that I might post later.

The GIF version of the first of thee animations I will be doing from the stereoscopic pictures I made at this shoot. I tried something different (and expensive) with these and it turned out to be a disappointment.
Why it was disappointing. )

Nineteen more pictures from the Convergence 13 Mad Hatter's Tea Party, shot on film with my antique 35mm SLR. Autofocus? Built in light-meter? Who needs 'em!

I did use a light-meter, though: my even more antique Soviet «Ленинград-4» (Leningrad-4) :-)

I meant to get through a lot more of my pictures on my lunch hour but ended up distracted by the pictures other people have been posting, so I leave you all with this little bit of silliness until I can get through more of the pictures this evening.

In as much as they can be explained, the explanation for the beans is in the Gothic BC FAQ.

We got back from Convergence 13 in Portland, OR. today. Naturally it all went by far, far too quickly. The [livejournal.com profile] phoenix_parade, a photo-shoot in up the Columbia Gorge with some of the nicest people in all of Gothdom, and being around more fabulousness than can be quantified at the Tea Party were the highlights of the weekend. Plan on seeing plenty of pictures over the coming few days - I shot roughly 9 GB of digital pictures and two rolls of film. It'll be about a week before I can get the film developed since I need to take it to a custom lab and won't be able to get to one until Friday. They should be worth waiting for though...

And while it should go without saying, since it is the point of Convergence, it's just wonderful to be face-to-face with all the amazing, creative, bohemians that I usually only get to interact with on-line. I'm bursting with inspiration at the moment.

The challenge, starting tomorrow, will be not letting the "culture of excellence" at the day job deflate my inspiration.

The Convergence proposal period is now over. Voting keys should be going out now. My recommendation if you are a voter:

First Choice: Seattle
Second Choice: Portland

Portland, OR "A Dark Victorian Dream"

The proposal period for Convergence 13 has begun. Gothic BC is officially endorsing the Portland, Oregon bid. Their committee is first rate, the theme is wonderful, and Portland is an outstanding city. The venue they have lined up is like the Commodore Ballroom with a touch of Orpheum - purely fantastic and perfect for their Victorian theme. Driving from Vancouver to Portland only takes about six hours... an easy trip for Vancouverites and Victorians.

If you are a registered Convergence voter, vote Portland for C13!.

I feel odd

While on the one hand I am very pleased that the weather has taken a change for the better (i.e. darker, wetter, colder) I'm also less than thrilled with the oppressive Mondayness of the day not to mention a few other annoyances.

Someone is griping at me because I haven't gotten around to updating someone's name on the Gothic BC website. I have half a mind to take it down just because it isn't fun anymore. *sigh* If you do nothing no one notices you and no one complains. It's not that I haven't had complements on the site, some people do appreciate what I have done, but there are just too many people that confuse complaining about everything with actually having opinions.

Of course the solution is simple. I don't owe anyone any apologies for what I've created. I'm not doing this for money or for popularity, it's just for fun.

There are other things going on that have me bummed as well. Funny how there is always something. Money is finally sorting itself out (albeit not quite fast enough - I'm not going to be able to afford travel and lodging for C7). But one whinge at a time...

It's 5am

Do you know where your brain is?

I have not been so covered in lipstick since I was whoring around at the Catwalk at C6. In deference to the official status of my divorce I was asking every cute girl at the club to kiss me on the cheek. As I got drunker I extended that to anyone who was wearing lipstick. I've got some photos that I'll post tomorrow.

For no sensible reason I ended up making bangers and mash for Opium and Sleepless Knight (who gets bonus points for finding bland boil-the-shit-out-of-the-vegetables and fry-the-meat-in-grease northern European cooking "exotic" - I actually had the pleasure of feeding the man his first ever Guinness). Chopping onion when you are too tanked to stand at 3:30 in the morning verges on completely fucking surreal. Although I have to say this for cooking drunk: at least the grease splatters don't hurt.

So many cute girls tonight... I got kisses from Daevina (who was first), Lori, Louise, Mel, Nancy, Opium, Sandi, and others. If only Ivana was there. All things in, she's really the only one I really want to be kissing... well except maybe for Mel, but I already struck out there... But when my mind is clear and I close my eyes it is Ivana I see first. *sight* If only I knew what to do.

But now the sun is up, Opium and Sleepless Knight have gone their merry way and I should catch some Z's so I can get some shit done tomorrow.

My Employee ID Card
My employee ID card
Get ready to laugh, if you aren't laughing already. I've been meaning to put this up for a while... behold my employee ID card! It's been a few years since I had to pack one of these things around at work. What I can't figure out is how they believe this is any kind of security measure. It would take about 15 minutes to make one (like the C6 passes I made for Nicole and Myriam last year). The swipe card that goes along with this is the only thing that is of any real use since you can't get anywhere without one and they are individually numbered. This photo ID is just a goofy throwback to the days before desktop publishing.

I kind of like the picture, though. I was totally not ready and just about to laugh when she snapped the picture.

In the survey I mentioned that "This Hour has 22 Minutes" made me laugh out loud, but I didn't say why. It was the following statement: "Every day is pain and the last one kills you."
